"Germany's next Topmodel": Model suffers panic attack during thrill shoot over LA

During the thrilling shoot over LA, the "GNTM" cast is plagued by a fear of heights. The obstacle course also promises plenty of tripping hazards.
Anyone who wants to reach the top must pass this test: Heidi Klum's (51) models are about to take on one of the most spectacular photo shoots in the history of "GNTM" (Thursdays, 8:15 p.m., ProSieben or on joyn ). Standing on a steel girder, they pose at a height of 70 meters. Too high for one of the models: She suffers a panic attack and faces elimination. Another favorite threatens to voluntarily withdraw before the final obstacle walk. How will Heidi decide?
"Fever Dream" on the balance beamThe models are going high: A huge crane lifts them onto a steel suspension beam to lofty heights above LA. 70 meters above the ground, they are expected to pose as freely and flatteringly as possible in front of the camera of photographer Max Montgomery (35) and in the colorful, dazzling outfits by star designer Kevin Germanier (33). Law student Magdalena (21) from Vienna suffers from a fear of heights. The shoot task makes her "panicky and pensive." Nawin (29) also avoids heights in his everyday life in Freiburg: "I already have problems on the ladder." And even Heidi admits: "I think I'd faint." Most of the 17 remaining models overcome their fears. Some, like Josy (19) and Jannik (22), climb even higher and have their photos taken beaming with joy. The nervous Nawin imagines he's in a "fever dream" as he poses on the steel beam. "You look like a king," Heidi says, celebrating his strength.
Security officer prohibits Magdalena's high-flyingMagdalena is completely different: The Viennese woman turns deathly pale when she's asked to step onto the balance beam. The security guard on site then forbids her from attempting the aerial flight: "She was hyperventilating and crying." When she tries again, he insists on a strict "No!" – Heidi understands Magdalena's panic: "But she also knows what that means: no photo, no new week." Is Magdalena out now? She's given the chance to complete the shoot at a height of just three meters – and does so with flying colors and to the applause of the other models.
After panic attack: Magdalena gets bikini jobHaving just been overcome by panic, Magdalena is brimming with self-confidence at the bikini casting. The face of a beachwear campaign is being sought from among the nine remaining candidates. Alongside her, Daniela (20), Aaliyah, Zoe (19), and Josy make it to the second round. And there, Magdalena truly prevails: Unsteady on the balance beam, confident on the catwalk. With the subsequent shoot in the Californian desert at the famous Joshua Tree, she fulfills her dream of landing her first modeling job on "GNTM."
Obstacle course over seesaw and turntableDuring the shoot high above Downtown LA, most of the models were impressive. The final catwalk is therefore all the more crucial in determining who advances to the next round. The obstacle catwalk is particularly challenging: The models walk on a slippery floor, a seesaw, a turntable, and a runway littered with Lego pieces, among other things. A further challenge is presented by the dazzling outfits by Kevin Germanier, who gives the men particularly voluminous hats. He and Gaultier supermodel Coco Rocha (36) judge the candidates' performances alongside Heidi.
"I will leave voluntarily."Right from the start of the season, Daniela was particularly taken with designer Germanier. That's why she's now been given the honor of concluding the walk in an extravagant bridal outfit. But Daniela's joy is limited: Out of panic fear of twisting her ankle or injuring herself, she has already ended her promising volleyball career. Now she's openly considering quitting "GNTM": "I don't want to walk anymore, and I'm leaving voluntarily." Designer Germanier is concerned and encourages Daniela. During the subsequent walk, she appears insecure and inhibited. Is this the end of the high for one of this season's favorites? Her male counterpart, Kevin (24), is also showing unknown weaknesses and is shaky, just like Aaliyah and Samuel (23). Which of them will be eliminated?

The jury isn't exactly gentle with the four shaky candidates. Kevin Germanier accuses Aaliyah of "viewing the walk in his creations as a joke." The jury is "disappointed" with favorite Kevin. Germanier is particularly annoyed that he buried his hands in the pockets of his haute couture during the walk. Samuel's walk seemed "like a turtle," and he looked down "robotic" too often, according to Coco Rocha. Rocha can't understand at all why Daniela seriously considered canceling her walk and dropping out: "He entrusted you with his most important outfit; you're like his muse. Hearing that you don't want to do the walk is like a slap in the face for him." But Daniela, Kevin, and Aaliyah are lucky and will be back next week. For the likeable Cologne native, Samuel, the eventful "GNTM" journey is over.
